Created by two Parisian transplants, Kalinaw Resort is easily the most polished offering in this surfing destination located in the southeastern corner of the archipelago. Understated chic mingles with Filipino pastoral at this 1 1/2 year old retreat : the five beachfront villas are made from locally sourced materials such as nipa leaves and doyok doyok wood, while interiors - platform bed shrouded in white linens, polished wood and concrete floor - are tastefully minimalist.

Fred Debacker and Pierre Zappavigna are two designers who left the glitz of Paris to set up shop in Siargao. Their resort/restaurant is called Kalinaw, wich fusestropicalia and skater chic effortlessly. Their menu is as sophisticated as their cabins ; with their italian wood-fire oven they are able to bake authentic French bread and pizza like the Royal Kalinaw. The medley of ham, mushrooms and mozzarella is topped with an egg the way it is prepared in France. They also serve the best - and possibly the only - espresso in Siargao.

Situé sur l'ile de Siargao, Kalinaw resort a choisi un emplacement considéré comme le petit bijou des philippines. Le nom de Kalinaw n'a pas été choisi par hasard : il signifie en dialecte local "calme et tranquilité". C'est pour cela que l'on peut dire qu'il porte bien son nom... C'est l'histoire de deux designers francais qui décident un beau jour de quitter Paris pour réaliser leur rêve : construire un hôtel sous les tropiques. Ainsi naît Kalinaw, dont le nom signifie calme et tranquilité en dialecte local. Inspirés par la street culture et le skateboarding, le resort est constitué de cottages individuels, alliant idéalement tradition et modernité. L'intérieur bénéficie de tout le confort moderne, tandis que l'extérieur s'intègre parfaitement à l'environnement local. Le restaurant offre un subtil mélange entre saveurs locales et gastronomie francaise. Mais la grande attraction de l'hôtel, c'est le spot de surf Cloud9. Chaque année Billabong y organise une compétition professionnelle, où se retrouvent les meilleurs surfeurs de la planète.
